Our story is a sad one, but one that should echo from a region to another … it’s Souad’s story!
When people have no place to go and nowhere to turn to for shelter, at great risk of becoming homeless, they find vacant, abandoned, or dilapidated buildings for shelter. And so did Souad who managed to find herself a shelter in a crumbling leaky roof of one of the buildings located in Tahweeta area… A shelter that she called ‘Home’…
Souad, a 75 years-old abandoned woman, has been living in this shelter for 15 years now, and it is particularly distressing knowing that the 7 floors’ building is not equipped with an elevator… Therefore, Souad, having visual impairment issues and arthritis, had to walk up and down 144 flights of stairs each day to make her way down to the front door.
Despite the fact that the building is fully inhabited, yet none of the neighbors gives a helping hand to Souad nor do they show empathy towards her condition.
Until one day, one of OUSANED’s members, Mr. Abdo Abou Ghanem, was approached by an old woman, with wrinkles covering her pale face, crying, begging and seeking help as the curtains in her shelter were broken.
OUSANED felt Souad’s pain and committed to significantly assisting her into improving her quality style of life wherein she can regain her self-worth and dignity
إنجاز أساند: مساعدة سعاد
قصتنا هي قصة حزينة، ويجب أن يعمّ صداها من منطقة إلى أخرى... إنها قصة سعاد!
عندما لا يجد الناس مكانًا يذهبون إليه أو يقصدونه كملجأ، وخوفاً بأنّ يصبحوا بلا مأوى، فإنهم يجدون بالمباني الشاغرة أو المهجورة أو المهدمة مأوى. كذلك فعلت سعاد التي وجدت لنفسها مأوى على سطح أحد المباني الواقعة في منطقة التحويطة ... ملجأً كان لها وطناً.
كانت سعاد ، وهي امرأة وحيدة تبلغ من العمر 75 عامًا ، تعيش في هذا الملجأ منذ 15 عامًا ، ومن المحزن للغاية معرفة أن هذا المبنى المكون من 7 طوابق غير مجهز بمصعد… لذلك، كانت سعاد، والتي تعاني من مشاكل ضعف البصر والتهاب المفاصل، تضطر يومياً صعود ونزول 144 درجة من السلالم لتصل إلى الباب الأمامي.
على الرغم من حقيقة أن المبنى مأهول بالسكان ، إلا أن أيّاً من الجيران لم يقدم يد المساعدة لسعاد وأيّاً لم يُبدِ تعاطفا مع حالتها.
الى أن يوما ما، اقتربت امرأة عجوز تغطي التجاعيد وجهها الباهت، من أحد أعضاء أساند، السيّد عبده أبو غانم، تبكي، وتتوسل طالبة المساعدة لأن ستائر منزلها قد مُزّقت.
شعرت أساند بألم سعاد والتزمت بمساعدتها في تحسين نمط حياتها بحيث تستعيد قيمتها وكرامتها.
